Veterans Policy: Kelly Perry-Hyland
Candidate for Suffolk County Legislature, District 8
The Problem
-
Suffolk County has the largest veteran population in New York State.
-
We can do better to provide care and support for veterans benefits that they earned.
-
Rising costs make it hard for veterans and their families to stay on Long Island.
-
County leaders spend more time playing politics than solving real problems.
My Plan for Veterans
Our veterans served us. Now it’s our turn to serve them.
Better Access to Care
Fight to make sure veterans can get medical help quickly and close to home.
Housing for Heroes
Push for affordable housing options so veterans can stay in the communities they love.
Support for Military Families
Expand programs that help spouses, children, and caregivers of veterans.
Stronger Partnerships
Work with local VFW posts, veteran groups, and hospitals to connect veterans with resources.
Cut the Red Tape
Make county services easier to use and make sure no veteran falls through the cracks.
Why Me?
I’m a military spouse and a working mom. My husband served 22 years in the Air Force. My family includes veterans, police officers, fire chiefs, nurses, and teachers. I know what service means—and I know the struggles our veterans face.
I’ve spent my career solving tough problems with practical, fact-based solutions. I will bring that same dedication to making Suffolk County a place where veterans and their families can live, work, and thrive.
I’m Kelly Perry-Hyland, and I’ll always fight for our veterans.
